Roundup: Great American Smokeout News!
Today was a big day around the country and Louisiana ... it was the 2011 Great American Smokeout! If you're not a smoker, you probably didn't pay much attention, but if you have a smoker or smokers in your life - family members, friends or a co-workers - this day is the perfect occassion to address their dangerous habit with them and how they might get the help they need to quit.
Organizations around the state hosted events to commemorate the occassion and spread the word about quitting. Here's a picture from one such event on the campus of Grambling State University:

President Obama himself even posted a message about the Great American Smokeout and its importance to the health of the country:
