Grammy Winner Shows Support for Smoke-Free in Cenla!

Discussions continue in Alexandria about the possibility of an ordinance to make bars in the city smoke-free, so Grammy winning Zydeco musician Chubby Carrier is set to pay a day-long visit to Cenla to show his support and share his story with others. For those who don't know, Carrier, who won the 2011 Grammy in the category of Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album and he has been a passionate supporter of the Let's Be Totally Clear cause. Check out this video from a press conference we hosted in Lafayette in which Chubby describes how he came to be a smoke-free supporter:

Chubby will be making his way around Alexandria on Thursday, August 18, to meet with Alexandria leaders, youth, media and community members to discuss the smoke-free issue and his support for a smoke-free Alexandria. His full schedule for the day is as follows:

OnPoint Talk Radio Interview with Carlette Christmas,  7:30 a.m.

Arthur F. Middle Magnet – Student Visit, 9:00 a.m. – 9:40 a.m.

CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Visit, 10: 00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

Chamber Luncheon with Congressman Rodney Alexander at Sai Convention Center (MacArthur Drive),  11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.

Meet & Greet at Spirits, 12:30 P.M. – 1:30 p.m.

Meet & Greet with Local Musicians at Copeland’s, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Public Performance with Meet and Greet at Copeland’s, 5:30 p.m. – 7: 00 p.m.
