Smoke-free laws improve health in NYC

Statistics recently released by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg show that New York City heart-disease deaths have dropped 28 percent since 2002 and the city’s adult smoking rate has reached a record low, with only 14 of 100 New Yorkers still smoking. It's great news that the New York City Health Department and other researchers are attributing in part to the city's strong smoke-free laws.

Want more good news? Well, more colleges and universities are choosing to go 100 percent smoke-free! According to this article from UPI, More than 600 U.S. colleges and universities have adopted smoking bans covering entire campuses, indoors and outdoors, and that number is up from 400 just a year ago.
